Windows xp quick launch bar registry

You can leave it where it is, or, if you want it to look like it did in previous versions of Windows, right-click the taskbar again and make sure that Lock all taskbars in unchecked. Now you can drag it over to the left and place it next to Start or the Cortana icon. Then grab the other end of it and drag it to the left so the icons on your taskbar appear as well.

That makes for a more clean and organized look. Either way, if you want it back in Windows 7 along with the Show Desktop shortcut, you can do it by following the steps below. Go ahead and right-click on an empty part of the taskbar and click on Toolbars and then New Toolbar. Now copy and paste the following line into the Folder box in the dialog that pops up and click on Select Folder. Now to get rid of the words quick launch, you have to right-click on the taskbar and uncheck the Lock the Taskbar option.

Now you can expand the toolbar by clicking and dragging the little handle on the left. All the icons will be small, but you can make them bigger by right-clicking on the handle and choosing Large Icons from the View option. So why bother adding the Quick Launch toolbar to Windows 7 or 8? You can perform this same procedure on Windows 8. If you have Windows 8, you should probably upgrade to 8. Previous Next. Guest Guest. Archived from groups: microsoft. Hello, I am trying to customise my default profile using registry hacks.

So far I have been quite successful in finding all of the ones that I want, however, the only one that I can't get to work is turning on or off the quick launch bar using the registry. I then monitored the file system and noticed that the following DLL is being modified everything I turn it on or off.

What does this DLL do? Does anyone know how I can turn the quicklauch bar on or off using either a script, registry or whatever? Any help would be appreciated. You have to export a key from a working system.

But this key will also contain wrong info. Remember these things are stored at logoff so you have to monitor system shutdown. Hi, Thanks for the replys. I did find another thread that pointed to the same web page that Ramesh pointed out - thanks This did work for me, however, what I did was to load the default profile in the registry, change the settings, unload the profile and then log on with a new user account.

Quick launch bar was there. Can you please explain further. Hi Andrew, I need to do it as part of a script. Well if you change it while explorer is running, when you shutdown explorer will write it's current settings back.

The current settings are read from the registry at startup.
