We no longer require or accept GRE scores as part of our M. Our M. Our graduate curriculum ensures you are well prepared to evaluate, treat and rehabilitate a broad range of speech sound, language, fluency, voice and resonance, cognition-communication, social communication, and swallowing disorders.

Our educational program will also provide you with knowledge of existing and emerging research and technologies, as well as the interpersonal skills to counsel and guide patients and their family members through the rehabilitative and treatment process. Uniquely, our M. Outside the classroom Students gain valuable experiences and build relationships with fellow students, professors, staff and community members when they participate in events with our student organizations such as annual highway cleanup, help plan a fall festival, volunteer at a head start preschool, spend time with nursing home residents or attend our annual spring picnic.

Our advising staff helps facilitate your progress through the graduate program. They advise graduate students during their program to meet requirements for graduation, ASHA certification and, if desired, DPI licensure. Up to 12 semester hours of prescribed speech-language pathology course work taken in this status may be applied upon admission to the graduate program on approval of the Division faculty and the university.

This may include transfer of up to 9 semester credits from another university. All course work must be completed within 6 years of the date of graduation from the master's program. Successful completion of graduate coursework in speech-language pathology prior to admission in no way ensures acceptance into the graduate program. Leveling program. Individuals without a bachelor's degree in communication disorders must take a set of undergraduate core course work before applying to the master's program. For more information, please see leveling program. Clinical experience. These clinical experiences will prepare you to work with diverse patients in different settings with a wide range of needs. The UW Speech and Hearing Clinic serves people of all ages and with a variety of communication, cognitive, hearing and swallowing disorders.

Featuring telepractice stations, state-of-the-art research laboratories, a testing room for specialty procedures and clinical speech equipment, the Clinic is also a training center for graduate and undergraduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology under the direct supervision of licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists CCC-SLP and audiologists CCC-A.
